Fake public opinion polls are again relevant in the midst of the campaign for a series of local elections in Montenegro.
🔴 In the midst of the political campaign and anticipation of the series of local elections in Montenegro, on the Socialist People’s Party of Montenegro website (on 16.10.2022), an article “According to the latest surveys conducted by the public opinion polling agencies Datapraxis and Ipsos, the list “Fundamentally for Budva” will win five mandates!” was published.
🔴 As we were told by Ipsos Montenegro, that agency did not conduct a survey of electoral preferences at the local level in Budva, and the aforementioned data cannot come from them. During the previous month, the Ipsos agency conducted a public opinion survey for the company Datapraxis, which was published by Datapraxis in the media and related to the national level.
By publishing inaccurate data and citing Ipsos as a source, the media and political parties harm the reputation of that agency and the credibility of data used by numerous domestic and foreign clients.
Ipsos Montenegro said that it would be correct for all participants in political processes, above all political parties and journalists, to check the accuracy of the data before publishing it, or at least to publish from whom they got the data.
